GBT got its origins from one of its original members (Mickey Patel) who had the idea of taking a few friends on a road trip to Austin, Texas to check out some of the cities public courses. The group that went to Austin was made up of 4 players who had never gone on a trip together but really enjoyed some quality golf and each others company while in Austin.
